This week has been so fabulous in terms of weather. We took advantage and went for another trail ride with the ranger. It was all great until the hubby wanted to go off the beaten path on a very rough trail. Pretty confident this man has given me several gray hairs from experience riding with him. Yep…he has scared the daylights outta me on a 4-wheeler, jet-ski, snowmobile, motorcycle, golf cart, all of the vehicles we have ever owned, and now we can officially add a ranger to that list as well. I have always wanted to try a tandem bicycle, but the track record is clear of what I would be in for.
It was so cool to be able to see the prescribed burns that were going on and the skyline at the time.
The picture on the right was just a small sample of what the rough trail looked like. I was too busy holding my breath and closing my eyes to take too many pictures of the escapade. Although the hubby scares me silly, he actually is a good driver in these situations. I dunno how but we and the ranger came out unscathed from this crazy trail.
Ava is to the age that she wants to pick out her own clothes. One particular morning she wanted to not only pick out her outfit, she also wanted to share her clothes with Shepard. Now, Shep did point out how he liked the rainbow shirt. Ava also convinced him on the super soft pants. A little bit later though I think he was regretting the decisions.
This Week’s Books
We love love love the Bruce books. “Spring Stinks” is a newbie and a goodie. “Plant the Tiny Seed” was definitely a favorite for the kiddos. It is a fun interactive book that keeps them involved throughout the story. “Oh Say Can You Seed?” was also very informative about taking care of plants. Scott likes to read the Dr. Seuss books for the rhyming. He is a bit nerdy like that.
Gluten Free & Dairy Free Menu
- Sausage & Potato Hash with green beans, navy bean, cucumber, and tomato salad.
- Vegan Cheese Sauce Fries- Yukon potato fries topped with grass-fed beef, green beans & bacon, covered with vegan cheese sauce.
It has been all about the veggies and garden salads this week. I love cucumbers, tomatoes, and beans with just a little olive oil, salt, and lime juice. It just tastes so fresh.
- GF Blueberry waffles with maple syrup.
- Cheesy Chicken & Broccoli rice with cucumber, pickle, radish, tomato, green onion and avocado salad.
I absolutely love blueberry pancakes and blueberry waffles. My darling daughter always asks for chocolate chip, which I also love. But, I have convinced her that blueberries have super healthy powers and now she obliges. It probably seems silly to have a salad with both pickles and cucumbers, but I must say it is one of my favorite combinations. I didn’t use any dressing in this salad combination. It was yummy just with the combination of the veggies.
Farm Animals
Oh Bo the big teddy bear, pretty sure he outweighs Ava already. That of course doesn’t stop him from partially sitting on her lap and giving her kisses.
I keep thinking that someday I will be able to take back the golf cart, but it apparently serves another purpose these days. Scott took this picture after he made sure she was sleeping. My guess is she just flipped over to the other side while sunbathing.
Who is cuter while sleeping? Apparently the golf cart and the ranger are comfy enough to sleep on.
This will be my last picture I take of Sammy. It was a tough decision, but we found a new loving home for Sammy. Since we have decided to not get any more goats, we didn’t want Sammy to be alone. He is a sweetheart and I am so happy that we got to have the experience of raising him as a baby. He went to a home with beautiful Nigerian dwarf doelings, so I am sure he is going to be super happy.
Fitness
Living in a tiny space, it is hard to find versatile fitness equipment that you can use in a small area. I have had this BodyBoss portable gym since we began our journey in our tiny space. It has served me very well. You can get a full body workout with just this piece and it stores so easily. I literally just slide it under the couch and slide back out when I need to use it. There are plenty of tutorials out there to demonstrate all the different workouts you can do or of course you can come up with your own routine. And for under $200 it is affordable. I purchased from Amazon. Feel free to check it out here.
On Another Note…
I have been using the Good & Beautiful Level K Primer with Ava to get her prepared for Kindergarten this coming year. We have done 15 lessons now I believe. Ava really likes it. I have really liked that it has ideas to help kids remember the differences between letters like lowercase B and D. Ava knows the differences between vowels and consonants and which are which. She is also learning long and short vowels. Her ability to read has definitely improved just from being able to sound out all the letters. I am anxious to see how she improves overall when we finish all the lessons.
I hope everyone has a fabulous week! God Bless!
