Tiny Living/ Kids / Gluten & Dairy Free Food / Farm Animals / Fitness

This was the exact day a whole year ago that we said goodbye to our old house and pretty much our old life. It was a snowy frigid day kinda like today but minus the snow. It is hard to believe an entire year has gone by since then. It is just amazing how so much has changed in just a year’s time.

This is one of the few pictures that brings laughter when I remember moving our stuff. I filled up my entire car…trunk included..with not only our kids stuffed animals, but also mine that have a place in my heart that I just can’t seem to give up. That is it…that was all that was in my car. A whole trip was dedicated to just stuffed animals.

And then of course there are things that do not change…case in point. Scott still likes to play with fire.

Shepard likes watching the ducks just as much as I do. We recently researched their behaviors and what it means when they do certain things. Apparently, they wiggle their tail feathers when they are happy and when they bob their head up and down towards each other they are flirting. Since I have explained this to the kiddos, they seem to like watching them interact and point out when the ducks are happy or flirting.

Ellie seems to have chosen her favorite kiddo to chase and that would be Shep. It might just be because he is easier to catch than Ava. She certainly makes up for it with all the slobbery kisses she likes to give Ava when she is still enough to do so.

Isn’t he precious? He is like a cuddly teddy bear. Bo loves to curl up at your feet or rest his head on shoulders when you are sitting or driving.

Another cutie pie had a birthday this weekend! I think we discovered a few things about the kiddos at the party. Apparently, Shep has a knack for playing Twister and all the kiddos seem to have a swinging sport in their future.

This Week’s Books

Ava is into Fancy Nancy books lately. “Three Grumpy Trucks” was cute and of course “The Little Blue Truck” books are always a favorite.

“Little Miss, Big Sis” was super cute. I just wish I had found this one to read to Ava when I was pregnant with Shepard. Both kiddos liked learning “Nancy’s Favorite Fancy Words”.

Gluten Free & Dairy Free Menu

  1. Paleo Chicken Alfredo with Spaghetti squash, green beans with bacon, and lentils.
  2. Rice bowl with turkey, vegan queso, kale, black beans, and tortilla chips.

I tried something new this week with the paleo chicken Alfredo. I believe it is going to be a keeper. It’s been a little rough trying to find a good dairy free Alfredo sauce recipe. I really wish spaghetti squash wasn’t so expensive because we love it around here. I am going to attempt to grow some in the garden this year. Here is to hoping that is successful!

  1. Paleo white chicken chili topped with avocado, green onion, and tortilla chips.
  2. Sautéed chicken, cream cheese mashed potatoes, baby carrots, and navy beans.

We are still loving the paleo chicken chili. I especially like to add rice to mine as well with any leftovers. Also, I managed to make Ava’s favorite plain olive oil and salt chicken once again. Shep loves these mashed potatoes. He kept telling Ava to eat hers at dinner and she responded back for him to eat his chicken. Bossing each other over meal time has been their thing lately.

Farm Animals

Quackers are the cutest. We have been winning them over with treats. Three of the 12 ladies are now laying eggs.

Howard is a busy guy these days with 12 ladies in the flock. There is a lot of flirting going on in the pond these days. Poor guy he hurt one of his feet and occasionally hobbles. We assist him when it looks like he needs it and even when he doesn’t because he is just so darn cute. He is usually better after spending some time swimming.

Oh Sammy…another cutie. I try to give this guy treats like I do the chickens, but all he seems to want besides his grain and probiotic treats are briars and pine needles.

Fitness

Definitely still loving the Cathe App over here. If I have a quick 5 or 10 minutes to spare, I like to find her bonus workouts. They are typically shorter and have some unique workouts I have not tried before. I have yet to run out of any kind of variety for workouts.

On Another Note…

The kids spend a lot of time outside and love their playground. I am always looking for inexpensive additions to make their play set. There are so many accessories for play sets and they are so fun to shop for. My recent sale find was the telephones that are made to survive outdoors and mount to the play set. Now, the kiddos can take orders for their cafe and deliver with their tractors.

This Week in the Shop…

Super cute early Spring tops can be found in my Poshmark closet! You can check them out here.

I hope everyone stays warm and safe this week! God Bless!

Hi There! We are Scott and Jamie. We’ve been married over 10 years, have 2 wonderful children (Ava & Shepard), 18 chickens, and our beloved maltipoo Abby. Thanks for reading about our journey!
