There has been both joy and pain this week. Because I am not one to keep my focus on the down, I will focus on what has been good this week. The weather through the week has been gorgeous. We decided to take advantage of that and get out for a joy ride with the off-road rig. It was fun and so nice to get out and spend some time outdoors in the sunshine. We even spotted some turkeys on our adventure.
I am so hoping the weather will cooperate for Ava’s birthday adventure. A trail ride with family and friends is what we are planning for her 5th birthday.
Mill Creek trail or whatever trail we were on did not disappoint with beautiful scenery.
These two like to do their own off-roading at home as well.
This Week’s Books
“Click, Clack, Ho! Ho! Ho!” was super cute. I was pleasantly surprised after reading “Would I trade my Parents” to Ava that she responded and said she would not trade us. I will be reminding her of that in the future.
Gluten Free & Dairy Free Menu
- Vegan lentil chili topped with avocado, cilantro, and Fritos.
- Buffalo chicken dip with carrots and broccoli.
- Cassava Pumpkin Pancakes with maple syrup.
I have been experimenting with a few vegan recipes lately. As of right now I do not plan on extending our diet to be just vegan, but I will never say never. The buffalo chicken dip was delicious. I will share that recipe later. The cassava pumpkin pancakes I have made twice now and both times the kiddos gave them rave reviews. Ava said they were the best pancakes ever, which is actually pretty shocking coming from a kiddo that always requests chocolate chips in her pancakes.
Farm Animals
Silly Sammy makes friends with everyone on the farm.
Bonnie is making herself quite comfortable in the tiny house. She comes in for breakfast, dinner, and playtime.
The hens always huddle up really close when Shepard gives them treats because he typically pours it all in the same spot..haha.
Ava usually disperses hers a little more so the hens are not climbing on top of each other. There is Sammy again.
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I say we have lost our sweet Dean. He passed Saturday morning in my arms. I can’t tell you how heartbroken I am. I was so determined not to lose him. Scott and I did everything we could do to help him. Unfortunately, there is very little vets around here can do for goats that is successful. I loved my sweet Dean. He was the first goat I picked up and instantly wanted him. It is so difficult to go outside and not see him there.
Workouts
It has been more of a yoga week for this week. I have needed a few breathers. Workout number 2 is my favorite. I love Jillian’s yoga workouts. I feel like I actually get a good workout with her techniques and combinations.
On Another Note…
We always let Ava pick out her birthday present and this year she decided on a my size Elsa, which just happens to not be much shorter than Shepard…haha.
